Indian Khana, I manage to stay active though it was getting difficult but did manage to have only few quite months and posted some of the recipes which I can to share for long time, though everything that I post is personal favourite but here picking the top recipes which I liked myself and also by readers.
Chicken 65 or Fried Chicken is spicy, juicy and delicious appetizer and it's difficult to say no to this yummy snack, who doesn't like chicken 65 after all of course ignoring the vegetarian, vegan people here :) Chicken 65 is regular feature item while visiting restaurants and where does the 65 name comes from is a big mystery. I am posting this recipe now so if you are having New Year Party, get-together or potluck then you can try this easy yet delicious chicken fry.
Idli Milagai Podi, idli podi, chutney powder makes great side dish with idli, dosa, or with even adai, paniyaram too it's like if you like it you will eat it with anything, I use double the same as parupu podi too and some time eat with rice too, ya that's me. There are so many ways of making idli podi or milagai podi and this one is my most basic recipe that I endup making almost every time.
Thinai Idli Dosa, thinai arisi idli dosa, foxtail millet idli dosa is healthy, vegan, diabetic friendly breakfast recipe with gluten-free option and it's also good for weight watchers like any other millet recipe. Foxtail millets are high in Iron content and these millets are totally pest-free. Foxtail not only not need any fumigants, but act as anti pest agents to store delicate pulses such as green gram. They also control blood sugar and cholesterol levels & increase HDL cholesterol. It's always challenging to think what to make as quick side with idli or dosa other than usual coconut chutney, peanut chutney those days you can try this easy chutney recipe.
Mooli Saag Chana Dal, mooli bhaji chana dal sabzi, Mullangi Keerai Kootu is winter special recipe while we get fresh, tender radish (mooli) with their leaves. This time had very good radish to taste very tender and sweet nothing like what we get in Singapore, really very delicious radish which also served as snack in Delhi streets with some chat masala. Anyways back to the this recipe it's Chhattisgarhi special recipe to use the radish leaves and made this excellent side dish which goes well with rice, dal or roti, paratha.
Ragi Idli Dosa, whole ragi idli, dosa, finger millet idli dosa is healthy, vegan, diabetic friendly breakfast recipe and it's also good for weight watchers. One of the most popular and easy available millets has be ragi also known as finger millet, Nachani in hindi, Ragula in telugu, Ragi in tamil, telugu, kannada, Panji Pullu in malayalam, Nagli in marathi & gujarati, Mandhuka in punjabi, Marwa in bengali and Mandia in oriya. Like all the millets ragi also has multiple benefits like it's high in calcium, protein also have good amount of iron and other minerals.
Palak Pyaaz Pakode, palak ke pakode or spinach onion fritters are easy pakora recipe with fresh spinach (palak) and adding little onion for crunch. Another winter specialty is having fresh, green vegetables with ample of beautiful looking spinach. In North India now spinach is everywhere, fresh and cute and during our trip we were making every second day palak dal, palak pakoda and finally towards the end of our vacation I manage to click the palak pyaaz pakode pictures.
Dimer Dalna, dimer jhol, aloo dimer dalna or Bengali style anda aloo curry or egg potato curry is one of the favorite potato egg curry with addition of freshly made panch phoran this egg curry is delicious and makes excellent meal with rice or paratha. This recipe can be made very quickly and if we have boiled eggs and potato in hand, i you like egg and spicy food then you will love this recipe.
Matar Paneer Masala, Mattar Paneer or also known as Mutter Paneer is popular Punjabi side dish with roti, paratha, pulao and one of the best winter recipe as we have fresh, sweet peas (matar) in season plus fresh stocks of paneer. Most of the people like matar paneer so it's very common dish in party or mostly in buffet :) I wanted to post mutter paneer recipe which I make it with both fresh paneer and peas (matar) which is rare being in Singapore but finally it happening now as during last India trip enjoyed winter and winter products to fullest.

Boondi Raita or Boondi Ka Raita is easy raita recipe made with crunchy boondi and spices. Boondi ka raita makes great side dish with Stuffed paratha or variety rice, pulao well. Amritsari Chole or street style Amritsari chole masala is popular chole or chana masala recipe that normally is served with kulcha or bhatura, naan, paratha or variety rice, pulao as well. There are few ways of making amritsari chole and this is street style or dhaba style amriti chole the only difference is I didn't added tea bag to bring the dark brown color like we get in dhaba or in restaurants as I am not a big fan of adding tea bag to chole.
Rasgulla, or Roshogolla, Rosogolla as called by Bengali is wonderful bengali sweet recipe and which has to be the most famous bengali sweet, in fact popular Indian sweet too. Soft, spongy, melt in mouth rasullas are treat to eat and we can say it's healthy compare to lot of other Indian sweets as it's not deep fried and we can reduce sugar syrup a lot while eating. Rasgulla is wonderful sweet for any occasion, celebration of festivals. .
Anar Raita or Pomegranate Raita is easy raita recipe made with colorful pomegranate and spices. Anar ka raita makes great side dish with paratha or variety rice, pulao well. There are few ways of making this anar or pomegranate raita too and this is the most simple way with minimal ingredients which not only makes great side dish but also quick snack to munch on specially on summer days or if you are on diet then use low-fat yogurt and enjoy this delicious raita as snack.
Sukhi Arbi, arbi fry, seppankizhangu varaval, seppankizhangu roast is easy, delicious side dish which can be also served as snack or starter. Sukhi arbi makes excellet side dish with paratha, rice dal/sambar or rasam. Crispy, spicy sukhi arbi fry is delicious to eat we just need to make sure to fry the arbi well to avoid any itchiness that arbi (colocasia), yam usually has but if we fry it well then we can avoid that also we can apply little oil on hands while handling arbi or yam to avoid itchiness too.

Murgh Musallam Masala, chicken musallam is delicious curry from Mughlai Cuisine and Mughlai Cuisine always known for it's rich and flavors that's why everything is known as Shahi :) Normally Murgh Musallam is made with whole chicken where chicken is stuffed with freshly roasted spices amazing by itself, adds wonderful flavor and taste to the chicken but I am not doing full chicken here.
Thinai Kara Pongal, thinai pongal, foxtail millet pongal is healthy pongal and great way to replacement for rice. This thinai pongal is like all millets healthy, gluten-free, vegan and the best part it's very difficult to make out the pongal is not made with rice, great isn't it? So if you look to add millet in your diet then this ven pongal is wonderful option too and you can make others eat too without them noticing much. Beetroot Sambar, or cukandar sambar is healthy sambar recipe where beetroot is used as main vegetable, made in Tamil style sambar. Beetroot is not only colorful but healthy vegetable and it's tasty too. As beetroot itself is little sweet in taste making sambar with beetroot is great idea and tamarind adds good sourness to this sambar making it sweet and sour. We can serve this sambar with rice, dosa, pongal, upma too.
Cabbage Vada, cabbage vadai, patta gobi bada is medhu vada made with cabbage instead of regular onion. Cabbage vada is made with urad dal batter and deep fried into delicious vada or vadai. Like Medhu vada or urad dal bada cabbage vada is made in similar way with just extra addition of finely chopped cabbage but the taste differs a little due to cabbage and cabbage vadai taste really delicious.

Mixed Millets Adai Dosa, or millets adai is healthy, gluten-free, vegan breakfast recipe made with multiple milllets and legumes plus we can also say this is instast dosa if we don't consider soaking time :p If you look to add millets in your diet in interesting ways then this adai dosa is for you it's super healthy and easy to prepare and this makes a great breakfast, brunch, dinner or lunch box recipe.
Garlic Noodles, or Chili Garlic noodles is easy and simple noodles recipe with minimal ingredients and which can be made in jiffy and gets pair along almost everything, I made vegetable manchurian gravy as side last weekend and it was delicious dinner, I had unexpected guest for dinner too and luckly I made quite extra so even the guest was happy. This noodles makes great lunch box recipe as kids will be happy to eat noodles.
Peerkangai Sambar , ridge gourd sambar, turai sambar, beerakaya sambhar is easy sambar made with ridge gourd or peerkangai which makes good side dish with rice. I normally make turai sabzi or dal and this peerkangai sambar is very rare affair but this time from making dal I changed my mind and decide to do sambar and in hurry manage to click the pictures too so I can happily share the recipe now :)
Banana Peel Thoran, vazhakkai thol poriyal, kaaya tholi thoran, kele ka chilka sabzi is raw banana or plantain skin thoran (stir fry) with simple spices and coconut in Kerala style. Yes we are using only the skin of banana and not the banana by itself, this recipe is very good best of waste recipe and does makes delicious side with rasam/sambar rice and of course not throwing the peel is added benefit indeed :)
Egg Pepper Fry, Egg Pepper Roast or Muttai Milagu Varuval is easy, spicy egg pepper masala made with simple ingredients and makes best side dish with simple pulao, rice variety or paratha. This recipe can be made very quickly and if we have boiled eggs in hand then it's can be done in jiffy. If you like egg and spicy food then you will love this recipe.
Manathakkali Vatha Kuzhambu, Manathakkali Vatha Kulambu, manathakkali kuzhambu or Chettinad style manathakkali vatha kulambu is easy kuzhambu recipe with manathakkali vatha ie Dried Black Nightshade or Makoy as known in hindi. My colleague gave me this Organic Manathakkali Vathal to try and I was more than happy to get hold of manathakkali vatha :) Manathakkali kulambu is delicious it's spicy, tangy, bitter with slight hint of sweet due to jaggery.
Karuveppilai Saamai Sadam, millet curry leaves rice, saamai karuveppilai sadam is healthy, vegan, gluten-free, no onion no garlic recipe with goodness of little millets and curry leaves. This also makes great lunch box recipe for both adults and kids and if you look for new ideas to add millets in your diet then this curry leaves rice is great option, also to use large batch of curry leaves :)
Sprouts Poha, Moong Sprouts Poha, sprouts kanda poha, is delicious, healthy poha recipe with goodness of home made moong dal sprouts is wonderful breakfast recipe which we can make in jiffy. Sprouts adds wonderful crunch to the normal poha and most of the time it's difficult to guess that there is any sprouts also, this is very good recipe for people whom doesn't like to eat sprouts as such or even in salad forms like in my home other than me no one else will eat sprouts.
Kuska Biryani or Khuska Biriyani, Khushka Rice, Kuska Rice is plain biryani cooked in onion, tomato base without using any vegetable or meat in restaurant style. It suppose to be know as Khushka insted of Kuska but some how Kuska is more popular perhaps cause it's easy to write? Kuska biryani is more of flavored rice with lots of spices, mint leaves, coriander leaves along with onion, tomato and served mostly with kurma or any chicken curry, though korma is my personal choice :)
Oats Dry Fruits Ladoo,dry fruits laddu or healthy oats dry fruits laddoo is easy, sugar-free, fat-free, vegan, gluten-free laddo made with goodness of dry fruits, oats and also secret ingredients -flax seeds. Lot of request I received to post healthy sweets and snacks for diwali and though I already have dry fruits burfi, dates sesame ladoo, dry fruits and nuts roll in blog but people do look for more things so I am posting this healthy ladoo recipe today which anyone can have guilt-free.

7 Cup Burfi, Seven Cup Burfi, 7 Cup Cake or 7 Cup sweet is easy burfi recipe with only 5 ingredients and the name 7 cup comes from 7 cups ingredients measurements are used to make this burfi. This is very easy burfi recipe but just need to take care of the consistency before we pour the mixture to set and we have delicious 7 cup burfi or cake. It taste delicious with coconut flavor, soft and yum.
Anjeer Mawa Burfi, Anjeer Khoya Burfi, Anjeer Burfi, Figs Burfi, Mava Figs Barfi we can call this burfi with so many names and this is one recipe in my wish list to post for a long time, figs or anjeer burfis are very delicious at the same time very easy to prepare. From the time I posted Dry Fruits Burfi I wanted to post this too but I made this rarely and never manage to take pictures these cuties always disappears so fast :)

I like murukku with different flavors and this is one of the favourite too and makes good snack for Diwali or even for tea time, in my home this whole batch was over in just 2 days along with the Ratlami Sev so it's good. If you look to try something different than this is for sure good option specially during this festive season.
Maida Burfi, or Maida Cake, plain flour fudge is very easy sweet recipe made with minimal ingredients that we can always find in our pantry. These Maida Burfi makes excellent diwali sweet and specially will be loved by kids for sure. In South India maida sweets are very popular comes in various shapes and color, infact its always so pretty to look at all colorful sweets in sweet shops on those days when dry fruits and North Indian sweets were not very famous.
Ratlami Sev, Masala Sev is popular sev recipe from city of Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh, also known as Ratnapuri in Malwa region. Ratlami sev does looks similar to kara sev but it's very different recipe and of course it's not similar to normal besan sev in taste, shape or size, made with besan (gram flour) and lots of spices this is great to eat. Though the sev is not very spicy in taste but it's very flavorful, aromatic with all the spices that we use in this sev, good snack for Diwali.
Kesar Peda, or Kesar Mawa Peda, Saffron Peda is easy and quick peda or sweet recipe in just 15 mins, perfect for Diwali or even the coming Karwa Chauth on 11th Oct 2014. Kesar Peda is one of my favorite sweet cause it's not very sweet in taste but just mildly sweet and the aroma of saffron is just wonderful, made with only few ingredients, less sugar and limited or no ghee makes this sweet for people whom doesn't like to eat very sugar loaded sweets :)
Cornflour Halwa, also known as Karachi Halwa or Bombay Halwa is popualr halwa recipe made with corn flour, this halwa is chewy and taste delicious with very limited amount of ghee and we can make this under flat 15 minutes isn't that's makes it perfect to try specially during this festive season right? Cornflour halwa is very easy to prepare just have to mix everything and keep stirring :), only thing is to not to mess with the measurements which is very important in this recipe so stick with the measurements.
Kara Sev, Khara Sev, Karam is popular sev recipe in South Indian made with simple ingredients and quickly it's very good recipe for beginners and perfect for Diwali 2014 snacks, this is my absolute favorite, I love kara sev and can eat all day long :) the peppery flavors makes this sev so so good for people whom like spicy snacks will love this. Have it with a cup of coffee or tea and it's a bliss.
