Diwali Sweets Recipes - Diwali or Deepavali 2013 is just 10 days away, this year diwali falls on 3rd November 2013 so I am listing easy diwali sweets recipes at one place for easy access. Diwali or festival of lights as it's also known as is five-days festival celebrated on thirteenth lunar day of Krishna paksha on Ashwin month. Diwali is celebrated to mark return of Lord Ram from Vanvas (exile) and to welcome his return Diyas were lit.



1st day is Dhanteras, where in North India normally people buy gold, sliver, utensils or any other things as it's consider auspicious as Dhana means wealth also from Dhanteras people light to lit Diyas or Candle until Diwali day.
2nd day is Narka Chaturdashi signifies the victory of good over evil, in South India this is day of festival celebration and Diwali is celebrated.
3rd Day is Diwali or Lakshmi Pooja, people worship Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth) & Ganesh (God of auspicious beginnings) and pray for more prosperity in life.
4th day is Bali Pratipada and Govardhan Pooja also known as Annakoot. On this day all the cattle are worshiped, cattle given bath, decorated with kumkum, flowers etc and then pooja perform with special Naivedyam or bhog for cattle, later part of day people take cattle around and celebrate.
5th Day is Bhaiduj, brothers and sisters celebrate this day and brothers normally gift something to sisters :).
