Eggless Marble Cake Recipe | Marble Cake (Eggless, Butterless)

Marble Cake, eggless, butterless marble cake makes excellent tea cake or a quick breakfast cake or even dessert. Since Valentine day is just a day away I am sharing this very easy and delicious cake recipe which is eggless and also without any butter plus I have used yogurt this time which bring good flavor and taste to the cake so if you look for easy yogurt base cake recipes then you going to cake this.

This marble cake I baked for my brother birthday as I mentioned before we like tea cake more than anything else and also it's quite easy for me to bake a tea time :) This Marble Cake was moist, soft and delicate just perfect how an cake supposed to be and I was very surprised with the result as I didn't the cake to be so good with just yogurt.


I normally just sprinkle some icing sugar and colourful sprinkles on top to make the cake more interesting and this is what I do for almost all the birthday celebrations, almost has became a standard now. As you can see the cake looks just perfect and moist in fact I am so amaze how good the cake turn out and the cake taste better the next day, so if you bake it in night have it next day or a day later then it taste just more delicious.


We can also make this cake with wheat flour or use half of wheat flour and half of maida it taste yum that way too. So if you look for something very easy to make to impress your valentine then try this.

Eggless Butterless Marble Cake Recipe

Moist, soft and delicious eggless, butterless marble cake.

Makes:8 inch Cake


  • 1 & 1/2 Cups - All Purpose Flour/Maida
  • 1 1/2 tsp - Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Baking Soda
  • 1/4 tsp - Salt
  • 1 tsp - Vanilla Extract
  • 3/4 Cup - Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup - Oil (I used Saffola)
  • 1 Cup - Yogurt/Curd
  • 1 tsp - Instant Coffee Powder
  • 2 tbsp - Cocoa Powder
  • 3 tbsp - Water


  1. Preheat oven to 180C (for 10 mins). Heat 2-3 tbsp water add coffee powder, cocoa powder and mix well, keep aside. Grease an 8" cake pan with some butter or oil, dust with flour and tap inverted pan to remove excess flour and set aside.
  2. Sieve all the dry ingredients like all purpose flour (maida), baking soda, baking powder, salt, and keep aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl take sugar, oil and beat for 2 mins.

  5. Add yogurt/curd beat again until sugar dissolve well. Add 1/3 of flour and mix to combine well without any lumps, do this again in 2-3 batches for remaining flour.

  7. Add vanilla extract and mix to combine, divide batter in to half and in one portion add coffee-cocoa powder mixture and combine well.
  8. In the prepared pan add 2 tbsp of cocoa batter and allow it to spread.

  10. Add 1 tbsp of white batter, then again 1 spoon cocoa batter followed by 1 spoon white batter and repeat this until you finish both the batters. Tap the pan gently once or twice and bake for 30-40 mins or until a tooth pick inserted in center comes out clean, mine got baked in 35 mins so after 25 or 30 mins check the cake if not done then check after 5 mins, do this until you get clean tooth pick.
  11. Once the cake is baked, cool on a wire rack for 5 mins, invert the cake pan to remove the cake and allow it to cool completely on wire rack. If you cake is not coming out of the pan gently run a knife all around the pan edges to loosen the cake.

Serve it as snack along with tea or coffee or have it as dessert, option is yours. We love to have it as both :)

  • Have all the ingredients at room temperature..
  • I add cocoa-coffee mix more so I can cocoa batter more and white batter less.
  • You can make the cake with half of maida and half wheat flour.
