Falahari Sama Dahi Chawal | Samvat Dahi Chawal | Navratri Vrat Recipes

Falahari Sama Dahi Chawal, Samvat Dahi chawal or Swang Dahi Chawal, Kuthiravali Curd Rice, Kuthiraivali Thayir Sadam, falahari dahi rice is made from sama chawal also known in English as Barnyard Millets, Kuthiravali in Tamil, Udalu in Telugu, Shyama in Bengali, Khira in Oriya, Swank in Punjabi, Kavadapullu in Malayalam, Oodalu in Kannada plus other names for Samwat chawal are bhagar, varai chawal, vari chawal, saanwa, saunfiya, samkiye, swang, samvat.

I was thinking what to do something simple with swang or barnyard millet for Navratri vrat/upvaas and decided to try peanut rice with it inspired from South Indian style Curd Rice and this during last year Navratri fasting and since today is Maha Shivaratri I thought of sharing this simple vrat recipe today.

I know I am suppose to keep the Millet Friday going and should have posted this recipe on Friday but being Shivaratri and for all those people keeping fast today it will be useful as this is very quick recipe we really don't have to do much other than cooking the millet or sama chawal.

Whether you are fasting or not, if you want to include the healthy millets in your diet then sure try this recipe, and while not fasting you can add regular salt.   Know more about millets benefits here.
