Samvat Chawal Khichdiis quick fasting (vrat/upwas/navratri) recipe which makes excellent dish for vrat (navratri) ka khana and goes well with aloo tamatar sabzi, dahiwale kaddu or even simple raita. We can make this khichdi in no time in pressure cooker and I like to jazz up the khichdi little with spices to make it more delicious, so I added whole garam masala you can skip that too.

As Navratri is starting from 13th Oct 2015 to 21st Oct 2015 this year, Navratri festival celebrated across India in different forms and Durga pooja, dandiya & garba and kolu/golu (array of Idols) is famous among navratri customs. Nav means nine so it's 9 days of celebration and worship of Durga (Shaki/Devi) in different avatars and the 10th day is celebrated as Vijayadashami/Dussehra. Vrat Wale Aloo Tamatar Sabzi is quick fasting (vrat/upwas/navratri) recipe which makes excellent side dish with vrat (navratri) ka khana like kuttu cheela, singhara cheela, singhara poori, samvat pulao or khichdi. This is my go recipe whether it's fasting day or not, I follow same procedure to make this aloo tamatar sabzi during non-fasting days too just add normal table salt instead of sendha namak, as this sabzi goes well with roti, poori, pulav too.

As only sama rice is allowed in Navratri fasting (satvik food) this uttapam is made from swang chalwa and sabudana (sago/javarisi) so it's vegan, gluten-free and healthy recipe same as the idli,dosa I posted before as I used the same batter to make this uttapam.
