Bottle gourd curry, lauki sabzi or dudhi sabji is something I that make more with bottle gourd other than the dal. This lauki sabzi is very easy, simple and made with minimal ingredients and it goes well with roti, paratha or with dal-rice, rasam-rice etc. Normally I make this dudhi sabzi with roti or when I want to make simple lunch then I make it with dal-rice combo. This is typical Uttar Pradesh style of sabzi made like in our home but I did mention few variations in notes which you can try too.

Mor kuzhambu made with variety of vegetables, fritters and the base curry or gravy recipes remains same with little variations. Mor kuzhambu is like answer to North Indian Kadhi and it's also curd base and chana dal is used instead of besan, both do taste little similar too.

Dan Kaanda Sabzi (tari) or Pidi karunai kizhangu curry as it's called in tamil is similar to yam or colocasia (taro root) but it's not elephant yam or colocasia as some people think. I don't know English name for dan kaanda and this is the name that my in-law place known as. Dan kaanda texture is similar of colocasia but it taste little different though some times dan kaanda can also cause itchiness.

Kadhi Pakoda or Kadhi Pakora is excellent side dish with steamed rice and prepared in various method across various states in India. Basic besan, yogurt mix remains same but the flavoring differs in most of the kadhi recipes of course not considering Sindhi Kadhi in which yogurt is not used. Kadhi pakora or as we call it kadhi chawal since normally kadhi is served with steamed rice or jeera rice for a delicious and comfort meal.

Vazhakkai Kara Kuzhambu or Plantain (Kaccha Kela) Kulambu is easy, spicy and delicious kuzhambu recipe goes well with steamed rice.   I liked kuzhambu or kulambu but I make it rarely as DH doesn't eat so once in a blue moon just to satisfy my kulambu craving I do make it and this time I made this vazhakkai or plantain kara kuzhambu and it's similar to Chettinad style so this kulambu is on spicy side.

I always make prawn in gravy style or semi gravy like prawn masala, prawn curry etc as it's easy for me to just make on prawn curry along with steamed rice for a quick lunch but making something dry type side dish with prawn is rare and I normally pair it up along with some beans or veggie like I did here in Prawn and Lobia Curry.  But my brother whom like seafood much insist to have dry type side dish for change.
